Hartham United Ladies FA Cup match

Hartham United Ladies played their first ever game in the SSE Womens FA Cup on Sunday 18th August against Bishops Stortford Ladies at the Pro Kit UK stadium. This was a huge occasion for them, and it meant that they became the first ever charity team to play in such a prestigious competition.
East Herts Radio were there to cover the game, and we were able to speak to managers Mahesh Bharwaney and Andrew Pawsey, as well as Hartham’s chairman Andy Calvert before the game. We also spoke with our sponsored player Janiece Allen.
The game got off to a good start from Hartham, with several early chances, they took the lead through Janiece Allen in the 27th minute, before Janiece adding another in the 37th minute to give Hartham a 2-0 lead going into the break.
Stortford were looking to get themselves back into the game, and they reduced the deficit after 55 minutes to bring the scoreline closer at 2-1. Just a few minutes later, Allen was on the scoresheet again to complete her Hat-trick. This looked to cause Stortford’s heads to drop, and Chemise Huitson raced on to a long kick over the midfield to slot past the oncoming ‘keeper and make it 4-1 to Hartham. A final 90th minute goal once again from Janiece Allen made the final score 5-1.
Mahesh Bharwaney was obviously delighted when we spoke to him at the final whistle, and Janiece was over the moon with the result also.
