Olu AKINSANYA took his season tally into double figures as WARE moved into the Bet Victor Division One Central play off places after a convincing 4-1 win over Harlow Town. The Blues took the lead after 31 minutes when Liam HOPE put the ball in from close range. AKINSANYA poaching number two right on half time. Pressure from the lively HOPE forced the unfortunate Elwin Larty to put the ball into his own net seven minutes into the second half. The home side had plenty of opportunities to put the game beyond their opponents reach before Matthew Rush gave Harlow a glimmer of hope with 18 minutes remaining. WARE though held on comfortably AKINSANYA sending the home fans away happy scoring his tenth of the campaign in the dying minutes. Afterwards WARE boss Paul HALSEY told East Herts Radio; ‘I thought the performance was outstanding in every department. I’m really pleased they deserved it and we kept the run going. We now turn our thoughts to the FA Cup tie on Saturday.’
HERTFORD’s torrid week continued as they were soundly beaten by Chalfont St Peter at the Acre Cars Stadium. Dan Williams scored a 29 minute hattrick to put Ben Herd’s side 3-0 down at the break. Luke Illsley adding number four after 63 minutes. Prince William DOMAFRIYIE did pull a goal back from the home side before Kahlil Francis completed a miserable night for the home fans.
HODDESDON TOWN are up to 4th in the Essex Senior League, Jordan HALLS strike proving good enough to beat Southend Manor at Lowfield. There were plenty of goals at Herns Lane as WELWYN GARDEN CITY beat Sandridge Rovers 10-0. Elliot BAILEY scored a debut hattrick, and Brodie CARRINGTON scored twice as Nicky Ironton’s team ran riot over their Herts Senior League opponents.
