WARE booked their place in the First Qualifying Round of the FA Cup after a 2-1 win over FC Romania at Wodson Park. After two draws against their opponents Ware dominated large parts of the match but still had Callum Kitscha to thank for two excellent first half saves before Liam HOPE put the home side in front after 34 minutes. Patrick ADAMSON added number two three minutes before half time completing a powerful run into the left hand side of the box with an excellent finish for his first goal of the season. The Blues continued to dominate after the break spurning numerous opportunities to put the game beyond the reach of their opponents. Joshua Williams goal 10 minutes from time set up a nailbiting finish but just as the visitors looked to build momentum defender Cristi Iacob received a second yellow card from referee Hugh Gilroy. Ware now face Leiston of the Southern League Premier Central at home on Saturday. Afterwards Manager Paul Halsey told East Herts Radio ” It was a little bit heart stopping at the end, I felt we needed to get that third goal, the whole team worked tirelessly. As I said to them it doesn’t matter if you win 5-1 or 2-1 you’re still in the next round.”

There was plenty of enteratinment at the Recreation Ground as ST MARGARETSBURY came from 3-1 down to beat Southend Manor 4-3. Kirk MCPHERSON, Napier BROWN, Thomas OPOKU, and Wisley BALTAZAR were on target for the home team as they recorded their first league win of the season in spectacular style.

In the nights other action teenager Brodie CARRINGTON scored a hattrick as WELWYN GARDEN CITY beat Harpenden Town 5-0 in a friendly at Herns Lane.
