90Minutes Tuesday Roundup October 15th

Written by on 15th October 2019

It was a good night for our local teams with victories for HERTFORD TOWN, WARE and WELWYN GARDEN CITY.

WARE left it late to see off the challenge of Whitstable Town in the FA Trophy Liam HOPE scoring the winner in the final minute of extra time at Wodson Park. The home side had the majority of the chances in a well contested tie Whitstable keeper Dan Eason pulling off point blank second half saves from Pat Adamson and Liam Hope. At the other end Calum Kitscha kept Ware in the contest with an excellent late save from Liam Gillies. With penalties looming Williams Danquah provided the perfect cross for Liam HOPE to set up an away tie at Leatherhead in the next round. Afterwards Ware Boss Paul HALSEY told East Herts Radio 90Minutes “I’m glad we didn’t go to penalties. I felt they looked the better team in the first half, but second half I felt we looked stronger. But we just didn’t take our chances, overall though I thought we deserved the victory and we move on to the next round at Leatherhead.”

WELWYN GARDEN CITY produced another stunning display under the lights at Herns Lane beating St Neots 7-1. The game was delayed for 45 minutes because of an accident on the A1(m) but when it finally did get underway there was only one team in it. Skipper Dave KEENLYSIDE set the Citizens on their way with a goal after only 8 minutes. Elliot BAILEY scoring twice in four minutes either side of the half hour mark to make it 3-0 KEENLYSIDE effectively putting the game out of the visitors reach with his second four minutes before the break. BAILEY completed his hattrick within five minutes of the restart. The visitors did pull a goal back through Jake Kerins before Callum STEAD made it 6-1 new signing Alex CATHLINE completing a great evening for the home fans with a debut goal 13 minutes from the end.

HERTFORD TOWN recorded their first win since the 26th August beating Soham Town Rangers 2-0 in the Isthmian Velocity Trophy. Prince William DOMAFYRIE was the Blues hero scoring twice inside two second half minutes.
