Pete Hill / Sports Commentator
Pete Hill shows
Pete was born in North London but has lived in Ware since 1994. He has a wealth of experience in radio having worked for Chiltern Supergold, headed up Heartbeat FM’s local sports coverage and spent 10 years working with Watford FC’s media team. He won a local radio Gillard award in 2006 for his input into the BBC’s Planet Speedway show and spent 11 years working as match commentator for Speedway production company T2TV. He admits it doesn’t matter what sport it is he’s happy watching it although football, tennis and baseball are his real loves. Pete has a passion for local sport and firmly believes it plays a major role in the community. “A few years ago when Ware reached the First Round of the FA Cup over 2,000 people turned up and there was a great buzz around the town which just shows how success for one of our local teams can produce a real sense of community!”
Along with Simon Allemand, Pete will be in charge of our sports output which will increase as time goes on to hopefully improve the profile of all our local clubs. When he’s not out watching sport Pete can be found listening to his large collection of music (although he admits he’s never got into jazz!), relaxing with a good book or planning his next trip to Canada to watch his beloved Toronto Blue Jays baseball team.
