Dave Edwards has been associated with the world of Radio Broadcasting for over 40 years, having started as many do, in Hospital Radio. He was one of the driving forces behind the formation of The Loughborogh Hospital’s Broadcasting Service (LHBS) back in 1975.
In fact Dave was the Station Manager for several years.
He was also associated with Leicester’s Radio Fox in the early 1990’s. He produced and presented the Sunday Breakfast Show.
Dave has, over the years, worked for both Commercial and Publicly funded radio stations both here in the UK, as well world-wide.
He started as a Studio Assistant at BBC Radio Leicester in 1976.
He was used as a Commercial ‘Voice Over’ talent by both Radio Trent in Nottingham and Mercia Sound in Coventry in the nineteen eighties.
Dave’s voice has worked for Radio Stations in the USA, Canada and Indonesia.
Dave has spent the past few years providing ‘Voice Overs’ for several USA based Radio Stations, producing them in the studio that he has set up at his home.
Having lived through and experienced the Seventies, he has a genuine love for the popular music of that decade.
This is fully reflected in
‘That Seventies Sound’
which he produces and presents each and every week.

When it comes to music, it literally rules Dave's life. He has been DJing since the early 80s, but it wasn’t until the mid 90’s that he became interested in radio presenting.
Dave loves and respect all types of good music, right from as far back as the classic 60s through to the indie pop ’90s & 00s.
He grew up in West London listening to the radio as a young lad and started collecting vinyl at the mere age of 5 years old. He would save up his pocket money to buy records as often as possible, and even now, 50-odd years on, he is still collecting music and is now running out of space to store his massive vinyl collection.
Dave was always a massive fan of the original “Pick of the Pop” presented by the late great Alan “Fluff” Freeman back in the day, and he always wanted to take a stab at doing his own breakfast show. So here it is..

David Sibbald
A Scot from Edinburgh, David embarked on his radio career at Radio Clyde in the Newsroom. But the attraction of teaching Spanish, Russian, Portuguese and French was too strong to resist and he went on to be a Senior Teacher and a Junior School Head. Now retired, he still finds time for private tutoring.
From 1990, David had his own restaurant in Harrogate, while teaching part-time. He presented regular radio programmes in North Yorkshire and then he found himself doing a daily breakfast show on a community radio station near Harrogate.
David has acquired yet another passion – cruising and he gives talks on aspects of British entertainment there.
You can catch David on East Herts Radio on Sunday evenings between 5 and 7 with his Country Classics Show - music from the past and present in the country vein. And if you’ve a request for him to play – give him a few days’ notice and he’ll see what he can do.

Mickey Gocool is North London born and bred and now lives in Ware with his two children. Mickey is the Managing Director of East Herts Radio but sees his role as not just administrative, but very hands-on, with training Presenters and Staff, maintaining the sophisticated automated playout system as well as ensuring the studio hardware is optimally functioning.
Mickey wears many hats at East Herts Radio but really enjoys presenting his Saturday and Sunday evening shows and interviewing individuals.
His passion for music started very early. As a teenager, Mickey became a DJ and after several successful years of being a “Mobile DJ”, Mickey secured residencies at some of London’s Finest Nightclubs. Mickey has also worked at London’s Capital Radio where he gained skills in Audio Post Production and Broadcasting. Mickey went on to create his own DJ Agency “THE ROADSHOW”. Mickey continued his successful progression in broadcasting by becoming a presenter on UCHR, University College Hospital Radio and Radio GOSH (Great Ormond Street Hospital).

Spencer James has been working in the media for nearly 30 years, and has been broadcasting for over two decades.
In that time he has been the programming controller for the UK’s first bi-lingual student radio station, Production & Promotions Manager for one of Spain’s biggest English radio networks, drive time and breakfast host on stations in the south east of the UK, as well as hosting Airplay40.
His passion for the media started originally in television, where he became a first assistant director for a couple of short films, one of which was BAFTA nominated. It was whilst at university however he truly became involved in radio broadcasting. Starting as a presenter, he worked up the ranks to become the Programme Manager for 2 years whilst also attaining a degree in Film & Television at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth.
Post graduation, he worked abroad, for what was supposed to be a summer break. 3 years later he was still there helping in the running of the station. His return to the UK saw him take a role at AA Roadwatch, reporting travel news across north London, Essex, Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire as one of the flying eyes. He spent his days flying around in a small airplane reporting on accidents and jams. It sounds more glamorous than it was!
In 2003 he started working as a presenter for one of the major radio groups in the South East of the UK, working throughout the schedule from drive time to breakfast show presenter. In the spring of 2008, Spencer hit upon the idea of a chart show for radio stations broadcasting to expatriates, and from that The eXpat Chart was born. Fast forward 3 years, and the show had expanded to a bigger audience than ever before expected. As a result, the name was changed and at the start of 2013, the chart became known as Airplay40.
When Spencer is not behind the microphone, he can be found cheering on the England rugby team, as well as trying to hit a golf ball around the place. He also likes creating and experimenting in the kitchen, trying to invent new and interesting recipes, usually with varying degrees of success.
Steve Hart edits the Just Jazz site and is the host of the Just Jazz radio show that’s broadcast by dozens of FM, DAB, and digital stations worldwide every week.
Steve’s career in the music industry started as a club DJ in 1980. However, by the end of the decade he had developed a passion for writing and began contributing music reviews to his local newspaper. He was soon taken on as a news reporter, and for a while he was a mild-mannered reporter during the day, and beat mixing club DJ by night.
“It was a surreal existence,” says Steve. “I was reporting on local politics, crime, courts, and inquests during the day, and then working three or four nights a week as a fun-loving club DJ winding up the dance floors at top UK venues across Essex, Kent, and London.
“I loved the music, and I loved my job reporting the news. But something had to give, and so by the time the 90s came along I had reduced my DJ commitments, and concentrated on climbing the newsroom ladder to become an editor.”
In the background was 10 years as a volunteer at his local hospital radio station, reading news for the blind – on cassette tapes back then – and there were stints in local radio. First as a tech op for a late-night phone-in show, and then as a news reporter working for both BBC Essex and commercial station Essex Radio.
In addition he hosted breakfast at Basildon Radio “getting up at 6am was no fun”, he was a popular Radio Top Shop announcer for five years, and was heard on some London pirate stations too.
Underneath it all though, was a love of jazz.
“I have always enjoyed listening to jazz, even when I was into house and garage,” says Steve. “I’d buy random CDs of jazz music at HMV – because I didn’t know what to buy – and slowly built up a wide collection. I read books on the history of jazz, and when internet radio came along I saw my opportunity…I started a pre-recorded radio show and offered it to broadcasters.
“I like jazz because for the main part it is unpredictable, real instruments played by real musicians. I particularly enjoy listening to the piano and sax, and my interest ranges from old school boogie-woogie to smooth jazz.
“Right now I am in a sweet spot where my weekly show is heard on almost 100 stations, I get to hear great music from established and emerging artists, and I enjoy sharing their work both on air and on the Just Jazz site.”
Steve was born in the UK, lived in New Zealand for 22 years, and is now based in Melbourne, Australia.
I live just north of London, UK and am a lifelong musician having picked up the guitar at 12 years old. I love all genre of music and have played in many different types of bands from blues to dance to jazz to folk. Still playing in bands and love every minute of it. I have a special love of the Blues and sharing that love with you on the radio is a real privilege. My love of all music comes across in my show at the ‘Joker in the Pack’ feature where I play a tune that is not necessarily Blues but one I really love.
