In 2017 the decision was made to unite Sworders Field and the original Castle Park which were once segregated, to make one beautiful park that the whole community can enjoy. The pathways have been renewed, which included a new riverside path that improves visibility of the Stort and connects the town centre out towards the north side. There is a skate park, tennis courts, cafe, splash park and childrens play area, along with a beautiful nature walk and Norman Castle to enjoy.
East Herts Council deputy leader Mione Goldspink East Herts Council Deputy Leader Mione Goldspink opened the proceedings and gave thanks to the National Lottery, East Herts Council, Bishop's Stortford Council and the friends of Castle Park for their contributions, support and dedication.
