Local Home Care Company Takes to the Skies for Charity

Members of the team at a local home care company, Home Instead East Herts and Uttlesford, are taking a leap of faith from 15,000 feet to raise money for Home Instead Charities, a national charity dedicated to enhancing the lives of older adults.

The thrilling skydive will take place on Wednesday, 25th September with GoSkydive at Old Sarum Airfield, in Salisbury, with a goal to raise £3,000 for Home Instead Charities. This charity provides vital grants to local community initiatives that prevent loneliness amongst ageing adults. Older people have reaped the benefits of groups and activities such as local dementia cafés, day trips and interactive activities.

David Bassett, owner of Home Instead East Herts and Uttlesford, commented: “We are thrilled to be raising money for such a fantastic charity. The funds raised will go directly towards enriching the lives of older adults in our community and it's incredible to see the difference these grants make – from providing a lifeline for those living with dementia to organising meaningful social activities that combat loneliness.

“Despite the common expectation that ageing should be a time of joy, many older adults are experiencing significant loneliness. It’s time we address this issue, and what better way to raise money than through a skydive!”

Home Instead East Herts and Uttlesford supports older people in their own homes and understands the importance of avoiding isolation, as it can take a toll on both physical and mental health. Therefore, the team is delighted to collaborate with the organisation’s charitable arm, Home Instead Charities, to organise a skydive event.
