Around 2,500 people attended a community day in Ware on Sunday (17 September), hosted by the local police Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT).

Officers were joined by colleagues from partner agencies for the event at Ware Priory, including Ware Town Council and Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Visitors of all ages enjoyed browsing stalls, funfair rides and taking part in various activities.

They were also able to look inside emergency service vehicles, try on police uniform, have their fingerprints taken and find out more about joining the police, either as an officer, a member of staff or as a Volunteer Police Cadet.

Free security items were handed out and residents were given a wealth of advice on how to keep themselves and their belongings safe as we head into the autumn.

Neighbourhood Sergeant David Miller said: “It was a fantastic day and I’d like to thank the team for organising the event and everyone else who helped to make it happen, including St John Ambulance and Tesco.

“I’d also like to thank all those who came along and spent time chatting to us. Events such as this are a valuable way to build relationships with the local community that we serve. We had some really positive feedback from residents about the work we’re doing to tackle issues locally and this proactivity will continue.”
