Tributes to the fallen of conflicts including the two world wars will be held in Sawbridgeworth on Saturday and Sunday.

The annual Nostalgia Day event will take place at Sawbridgeworth Memorial Hall from 10.30am on Saturday (November 11), Armistice Day, during which poppy wreaths will be laid at Sawbridgeworth Airfield Memorial. And on Sunday afternoon the Remembrance parade will march through the town from 2.45pm.

It will be a poignant Nostalgia Day event this year as it will take place without one of its founders, David Mead, who died in September.

Entry to the event is free. There will be transport to the airfield from 10.30am and a wreath will be laid in the Memorial Hall at midday, before the entertainment begins at 12.30pm.

Refreshments, including a licensed bar, will be available and organisers are asking for cake donations to be dropped into the hall between 9am and 11am on Friday.

Following the Remembrance parade on Sunday, people will gather at Great St Mary’s Church at 3pm.

The theme is Coronations Then and Now, and performances reflecting the decades from the Queen’s coronation in 1953 to the King’s coronation this year will be by youth group Diverse Performing Arts.
